A catastrophic construction accident left six of our Union Brothers critically injured. Four Members are from Local 431 and two are from Local 445. Please keep our Brothers in your thoughts and prayers as they face unimaginable challenges in their recovery. The “Six Strong” fundraising campaign has been created by the community to support these men through this difficult time. A bucket for donations will be passed around at our Christmas party as well.

Local 431 Carpenters’ Holiday Party!

It’s that time of year again! The 2023 service pin presentation and holiday dinner will be held at the December meeting on December 11, 2023. The pin presentation will start promptly at 6pm. Come celebrate another prosperous year with your Brothers and Sisters. We ask our members to help spread the season’s spirit by helping our community. Here’s how Local 431 can serve our community.

  • Toys for Tots – Please bring an unwrapped, unopened toy for less fortunate children. Donating will earn you 10 UCAN credits!
  • Food Drive – Please donate non-perishable food items. Also worth 10 UCAN credits!

Also, we’ll be collecting monetary donations for the six members who sustained critical burn injuries from a catastrophic generator explosion while on the job early in October. These monies will go toward their ongoing, extensive recovery. Our brothers and their families need us more than ever in this difficult time.

Wreaths Across America

Carpenters of Local 431 are heading back to Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery to honor our fallen veterans in the Wreaths Across America wreath laying ceremony. We’re looking for volunteers to help present wreaths to each fallen hero’s monument. The event will be held on December 16, 2023 at 12pm. Please arrive early to check in with Gary Shirk and help unpack wreaths. Parking is located at MSC Industrial Supply Co. Buses will shuttle between there and the National Cemetery. Dress warm and get some UCAN credits! A clean up day is scheduled for January 20, 2024.

Build Back Broad Street!

The Broad Street Market suffered a devastating fire in July of 2023 that affected many small business owners. The community is working hard to get these small business back on their feet in a temporary structure until the Market is rebuilt. That’s where Union Carpenters come in to do what they do best. BUILD STRONG. Local 431 is looking for members to volunteer their skill and time to help build back our community. This will be an ongoing project so keep an eye on the website for dates and times as they come up. Your efforts will net you UCAN credits.

Please contact Brian Pomeroy with any questions at (717) 790-6820.
